Andrew Collings Photography featured in Shutterbug Magazine

What an honor to be featured in Shutterbug Magazine as one of the country's best wedding photography studios! They featured my studio along with studios I really admire, and so it's quite a thrill to be in such great company. Thank you!A link to the online version of the article can be found here. I also took a few shots of the magazine spread.

WPJA Honors Andrew Collings Photography

I was very excited when I got the news that the WPJA (The Wedding Photojournalist Association) has honored my image of Iris and Peter hugging after their ceremony at Bond Chapel. It won 2nd place in their Emotion category. WPJA is the world's largest organization promoting and advising the principles of a documentary approach to wedding photography and I was honored to have placed so well amongst such great photographers' work from around the world!

I was so excited to get today's Chicago Tribune Sunday Magazine and see that my photograph of Michal and Zev's super wedding was on the cover! Inside they gave the wedding a full spread and there were more of my images and a great ceremony shot by my incredibly talented Associate Photographer, Brian. In addition to Brian, I got great shots from another of my top Associates, Will and from my trusty assistant Brent. Thanks everyone and thanks to Michal and Zev for being so great to work with and capture all that they put into their great wedding. Below is an excerpt of the text from the magazine, written by Lisa Skolnik:

Her grandfather was thrilled when [Zev] proposed to [Michal] on a visit in 2006, right in his living room. “I was raised in that house, so it was really meaningful for him, especially since he was way too old to make it to the wedding,” she explains. He died three months later, and the couple resolved to have a traditional Israeli-style wedding. In [Michal's] generation, that means “a huge party with great music, lots of dancing and incredible food,” she explains.

They decided to have different food stations, for salads, meats, fish and grains, Salomon says.

The entire event took place at the Chicago Illuminating Company on May 24 of last year, and the food was only one highlight of the night. Dancing—first to the Chicago Klezmer Ensemble and then to deejay Jesse de la Pena, was the second. “We never got to eat anything, but everyone says the food was fantastic,” recounts Raz-Russo.
